Raon Digital Everun & FlipStart UMPC Review

An unbelievable four years after it was first announced and long after it was regarded as vaporware and urban legend, the FlipStart 1.0 (E-1001S) by FlipStart Labs finally began shipping in the spring of 2007.

In May 2007, Intel told the world that they saw two markets for the UMPC. One, a higher-end market for professionals and productivity users. The other, a low-end market focused mainly on smaller, cheaper, less powerful entertainment and communication devices aimed at the consumer. This consumer market is something that Raon Digital has been focusing on since they launched their first UPMC back in August 2006 with their 4.3" screen, AMD Geode powered Vega UMPC and a year later, Raon are continuing this focus and still seem to be ahead of the game. The Everun has launched with the same small form factor and long battery life as the Vega but with some additional and unique features along with a great price. UMPCPortal was lucky enough to get a production sample S30H for long term testing and here's the full review ....

U60 Update from Taiwan

In taiwan, it is beginning to sell in shop at limited numbers. Quite a number of taiwan users got the U60 UMPC and 26000 taiwan dollars (about SDG$1250). It is a bargin compare to U1010 which cost SGD $1988. Here is some pics to quench our thirst. In August, Gigabyte is rumoured to roll U60 in full force.

U60 with an USB TV antenna, seems like a good idea, it is said to be running quite smooth, the Via CPU has good battery life and can run Windows Media 11 without any slowness. Exactly when is U60 COMING TO SINGAPORE. I must really push the singapore distributor. I am sure someone out there is also waiting for it to arrive in Singapore market. I may organize an Mass Order if the local distributor is not keen to import. If anyone of you is intertested, pls drop me an email at delllim@gmail.com or delllim@yahoo.com. May have some taiwan friend who can help us.

Below is the tv piccture of 白欣惠, nice and clear pic.

Iphone Imitation from China

See the links to Apple Iphone fake(imitation) from China. It is rather fast that the fake iphone is in the market. The outlook is similar but the firmware portion is questionable. I do not think it is the same as the real Iphone. It is touch screen by the way and the apple logo also looks different.

This iphone are available from shenzhen china, just across hongkong. It is really unbelieveable that china people have put in so much manpower and money to produce fake iphone.

Kohjinsha k600 intel based A100 CPU

This is the new kohjinsha k600 UMPC pictures. Kohjinsha fights back with a second generation K600 model which gets a big bump to Intel's new A100 processor for XP/Vista.

Old kohjinsha SA1 Series.

Kohjinsha SA1 placed along with Fujitsu U1010.

Rumour of UMPC by Major PC Manufacturers.

From various websites, I have seen news of HP, Acer, Dell and Haier(Founder), Founder(China) and Toshiba are coming up with UMPC products. Only IBM or Lenovo are no where to be seen with UMPC.

The choice of UMPC based CPU are split into three groups: AMD, Intel and VIA. There is no distinct in speed (all around 600Mhz-1.2GHz). Low power CPU determines the Winner in this category of portable machines. The proven CPU with low power and reasonable speed is on VIA platform.

Rumours that AMD is working with China Based company to produce UMPC for China Domestic Market. Hopes there is more news from china websites soon.
